The NCER is organized into units for training and
operations. Our State Headquarters is responsible for all
units within the counties of North Carolina.  These
counties are divided into two Brigades, the 1st Brigade
(Eastern) and the 2nd Brigade (Western).  These two
Brigades are divided into Regiments which are further
divided into smaller sections or Battalions.  These
Battalions are broken down into Companies and
Platoons which serve the local communities.
Rank Structure:
In carrying out missions, the volunteers of the NCER, both the junior ranks
and officers, must work as a single unit to execute complex tasks under
challenging conditions.  Rank establishes a chain of command. Everyone in
the NCER is responsible for following the directions, guidance, and example
of those who are above them in rank. Even though everyone is responsible
for building teams and strong bonds within the framework of the NCER, to
insure success while training and during missions, a hierarchy of ranks must
be followed.
All of our members are required to attend a weekend Basic
Orientation Course.  During Orientation Training, members
practice Drill & Ceremony, and are taught the importance
of structure, rank, and proper presentation of our uniform.
